Zeta Chapter Post Hurricane Ike

On Saturday, September13, 2008, Hurricane
Ike, on the verge of being a Category 3 hurricane, hit Galveston, TX head on.
Zeta House was directly in the path of the hurricane. While no buildings were
flooded from the storm surge that flooded the island, the main house of the
property was severely damaged. The fences securing the property were blown down,
and the roof of the main house was almost completely destroyed, causing much
damage to the interior of the house due to wind and rain.
The officers are currently working on
obtaining FEMA aid and reaching out to our alumni to help with offsetting the
cost of repairs. There have already been several members who have started
working on cleaning the property of debris and securing the premises. Our
amazing house manager, Erika Urban (’11), is already organizing workdays to
gather members, along with any other capable hands, to start repairs on the
house. Several members have been back to take pictures and keep us all informed
and updated on the progress of the house. 1st and 2nd years will be back living
at the house by Oct 6, and 3rd and 4th years will trickle back once away
rotations have ended. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to
rebuild our house and spirits.
