History: In 2007, on the island of Grenada in the West Indies, two events took place: the Cricket World Cup came to the Caribbean and the Iota Mu chapter was founded. The chartering of the chapter coincided with the last game of the World Cup to be played on the island, between Australia and New Zealand, on the 20th of April. The chapter was formed due to the efforts of three members from the Sigma Tau Chi chapter in England: Lawrence LeBlond, Adeel Husain and Mahvash Madni. On the 28th of April, 2007, twenty-four individuals, comprising the charter class, joined the Phi Chi family.
Our primary goal is to help the students with their journey to becoming physicians as well as giving back to the Grenadian community through activities with groups such as Grened, an organization committed to improving the education of the Grenadian people. We also hope to improve on communication between students in Grenada working on their basic science courses, clinical rotation students and the residency students.
